What time is it?
It depends where you are and at what time the question is asked.

What will the weather be like tomorrow?
Beautiful.

What are we having for dinner tonight?
Find out if you’re hungry. Then, look in the refrigerator. Possibly consult other dinner eaters.

What’s the meaning of life?
That’s a question you hear in many different contexts. The problem is that it’s an erroneous question.

Is there life after death?
A more interesting question would be whether there is death before life.

Who am I?
You think you’re the boat. But you’re really the ocean.

Why is life so unfair?
It just seems unfair because our lives are so short. In the long run everything is completely fair.

Am I in the right place?
Yes, most likely. If you’re unsure: try to locate your body. If you can see it clearly, you’re in the right place.

Why do you write?
To learn new things. Because it’s fun. Writing is like sending a message in a bottle. You don’t know where your stuff will end up or how it will be received. It feels exciting and safe to know that there’s somebody out there in the big blue ocean who receives ones little messages. Thank you!

What are you writing?
I’m writing what I’m occupied with at the moment. If somebody said my writing was trying to investigate the nature of the mind I would like that statement.

Who are your favorite writers?
Patañjali for infinity. Jeanette Winterson for her passionate virtuosity. Jamaica Kincaid for the apparent simplicity. Gertrude Stein for inspiration. Jean Rhys for the trembling desperation. Aksel Sandemose for his hopeless relentlessness. Anne Carson for Autobiography of Red. Henry Miller. And many others.

Have any of your books been translated into English?
Not yet.

What led you to photography?
Seeing. I always try to find beauty in ugliness and to show that ugliness is really not any different from beauty. And also to see things beyond the seen.

Are there any similarities between photography and writing?
Yes and no. The similarity is that both are about seeing. The difference is that when I take a picture I press a button and that’s that. Balm for my tortured writer soul!
